DJ Spoony, real name Johnathan Joseph, is a trailblazing UK broadcaster and DJ with a career spanning over 30 years. He first rose to prominence in the '90s as a member of The Dreem Teem, joining BBC Radio 1 in 2000 and helping to bring UK Garage into the mainstream.

Equally passionate about football, Spoony presented BBC 5Live’s 606 and Radio 1’s Weekend Breakfast, interviewing icons like Sir Alex Ferguson, José Mourinho, and David Beckham. Since 2014, he’s presented for Premier League Productions, and in 2021 joined Amazon Prime Video’s football team as a pitch-side reporter and pundit. He regularly appears on BBC Radio 2, where he now hosts his own Saturday night show, The Good Groove.

A highly active DJ, Spoony has performed across the UK and Ibiza for top brands and at major events. His orchestral project, Garage Classical, sold out venues like the Royal Albert Hall, and during the 2020 lockdown, his Spoony’s House streams raised over £20,000 for the NHS.

Spoony also curates The Soul Kitchen, a live music night in Brixton supporting UK soul talent, and continues to celebrate Black music culture across platforms. Away from the spotlight, he enjoys time with his partner, their dog Prince Apollo, and the occasional round of golf.

‘Im delighted to be a part of the Tongue Tied team. I’ve watched the company grow over the years and taken great care of their clients, many of which are my friends. The are vibrant, fun and know their ‘stuff’.’
