Josie Green
Josie Green is a Welsh international and current Crystal Palace player, known for her leadership, consistency, and dedication on and off the pitch. She began her senior career at Watford Ladies, making her debut during the 2010/11 FA Women’s National League season. In 2015, she joined Tottenham Hotspur, featuring in the squad from the second half of the 2015–16 season.
Green signed her first professional contract with Spurs ahead of the 2019/20 FA Women’s Super League (WSL) campaign. That season proved historic, with Spurs winning a domestic quadruple and earning promotion to the WSL. Her leadership was quickly recognised—she served as vice-captain during the 2019/20 season before being named club captain in August 2020, succeeding Jenna Schillaci. After six impactful years at Tottenham, she signed with Leicester City before making the move to Crystal Palace, where she continues her career in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
Although born in England, Josie proudly represents Wales, honouring her heritage through her Welsh family. She earned her first senior international cap at the age of 16 during a 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan and has remained a regular presence in the national squad ever since.
Outside of football, Josie studied education at St Mary’s University and worked as a PE and Geography teacher at St Thomas More Catholic School in North London. She left teaching when Spurs were promoted to the WSL to focus fully on her football career.
A long-time yoga enthusiast, Josie has incorporated yoga into her training routine for over five years, using it to enhance both her physical performance and mental well-being.
