Supporting Tomorrow's Female Football Stars

At Tongue Tied Management we like to put our money where our mouth is and we’re proud to sponsor the Evergreen Falcons Under-10s girls team, who play in the award-winning Hertfordshire Girls Partnership League.

Formed almost overnight in August last year, the girls enjoyed a very successful debut season, winning promotion twice, scoring some 167 goals and losing just once in the process. This season they move up to play 7-a-side and will face a tough test against some very good, experienced sides at a level where the standard of football is extremely impressive.

What’s so evident is the camaraderie which comes form being part of a team (football or otherwise) - something that many girls of this age don’t experience, in comparison to their male counterparts.

They kicked off the new season last weekend to co-incide with the first round of the new Women’s Super League fixtures with a high-quality match against a slick Watford Ladies Youth outfit: both sides showing great skill and intense commitment.

The girls attitude is what strikes onlookers most though - the smiles and team spirit shining through, regardless of the outcome on the pitch and what’s so evident is the camaraderie which comes form being part of a team (football or otherwise) - something that many girls of this age don’t experience, in comparison to their male counterparts.

Striker Maddison, who only answers to the moniker ‘Messi’ in tribute to her favourite player, says: “I love being part of a team and giving my best every week.”

“It doesn’t matter if you win or lose as long as you enjoy yourself,” says Ciara, although Evie adds: “Playing football is great fun… especially when we win.”

Captain Molly sums it up, saying: “I’ve made a whole group of new friends - Friday training then playing our matches on Saturday mornings are the best part of the week!”

With the Women’s World Cup having captured the imagination of so many girls of all ages over the summer and the Super League much more visible thanks to its kid-friendly 7pm highlights show on BBC4, the stage is set for another fantastic season of fun and football, and Tongue Tied Management is proud to be playing our part!
